Each country, of course, is proud of its heritage and carefully guards the traces and monuments of the past centuries. In this regard, Turkey is no exception. On the contrary, here the attitude to the monuments of their own history is emphasized respectfully. This is connected with a huge number of unusual museums, of which there are quite a few. One of them is the Cesmeli Konak Museum, located in the city of Afyonkarahisar.

This museum is a perfect example of late Ottoman urban architecture, which is perfectly preserved to this day. Among the exhibits of the museum you can see a lot of interesting household items and scenes from the everyday life of citizens.

History of Cesmeli Konak Museum

The history of Cesmeli Konak House began with the construction of a fountain for charitable purposes. The fountain was built by Kahvecioglu Ismail Efendi, who was engaged in silk trade. A little later, next to the fountain, he also built a house for his family. It is known that the construction of the house was completed in 1906. This house today is the Ceshmeli Konak Museum.

The house is a two-story building with a balcony and an attic. A pavement of hewn stone is laid around the house. Also near the house is a fountain, from which all construction began.

Ceshmeli Konak House is a unique example of Ottoman architecture of the 19th century. It has all the classic characteristics of the decor, interior and exterior of the urban houses of those times. The architecture of this house is an integral part of Turkish culture.

In 2002, the house was placed under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of Turkey. Today, in addition to a small exhibition of urban life items of the 19th century, various cultural and educational events for students and adults take place here. The house is an important historical symbol for Afyonkarahisar and many tourists come to the city specifically to visit the house-museum.
