Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region, it is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities of Italy. Built around the Arno River, the city was built by order of Julius Caesar in 59 BC. How to get to Florence
In Florence, planes land at the airport of Amerigo Vespucci (Peretola). This airport is located about 5 km from the city. It serves both international and domestic flights. You can get from the airport to the city by bus in 20 minutes. Or if you prefer more comfort, you can take a taxi.
Florence can also be reached by train. Florence’s main station, Santa Maria Novella, is centrally located on Via Mannelli. Trains from almost all major cities of the country arrive here.
Also, Italy has a very developed bus service. For example, from Rome to Florence about 2.5 hours, and tickets cost from 20 EUR.
Sights of Florence
Florence has the largest number of museums and monuments than other cities in Italy. It follows that the capital of Tuscany is ready to offer tourists one of the richest excursion programs. One day is definitely not enough for you to visit at least a small part of the attractions of Florence. Here are just some of them:
- Duomo Florence Cathedral;
This is perhaps one of the most recognizable buildings in the city, which has become its symbol. This cathedral is the heart of the city, without visiting it, did not visit Florence.
- Basilica of Santa Croce;
Here lie the legendary inhabitants of the city – Michelangelo, Machiavelli and Galileo Galilei. There is also the tomb of Dante, but it is empty.
